Biography

Joanie Laurer-Helmsley was a member of the EBWF Administration team at its inception in 2001.  She served as the Executive Vice President of Production and Programming and also worked in an on-screen roll. She was the recepient of 5 EBWF Slammy Awards including the 2009 Female Wrestler of the Year. Better known as Chyna, she was a 1x EBWF IC Champion, the only woman to ever achieve that title, and best known for her long tenure with Shawn Michaels and Triple H as Degeneration X. 

 

Joanie married Hunter Helmsley in 2007 and adopted his young daughter, Morgan, the same year. In 2008, Joanie and Hunter welcomed their son, Michael McCrae Helmsley. The couple resided in San Antonio, Texas, as the mother of two continued to serve in her administrative role. 

 

In April 2016, while traveling with EBWF in Nashvillle, Tennessee, Joanie Laurer-Helmsley passed away due to complications from a brain aneurysm. She continues to be celebrated by her EBWF family and legions of fans.
